Funding options may include assistantships, scholarships, travel awards and stipends, with some opportunities offering additional benefits such as health coverage or tuition waivers.

Assistantships, Scholarships & Awards

Assistantships are available on a limited basis in most graduate programs. These positions provide funds for many master鈥檚 and doctoral students. Each department or program has its own requirements and expectations for their assistants and fellows. Most require 20 hours of work per week and many assistantship positions include health insurance eligibility. To inquire about or to apply for assistantships, contact your department or your academic graduate advisor.

Scholarships

UNT offers a variety of fellowships, scholarships, grants and awards. Some academic departments offer nationally competitive scholarships. Additionally, of $1,000 or more per academic year may qualify for an out-of-state tuition waiver, when meeting .

The Graduate Student Travel Award is a competitive award that provides funding to support graduate students' travel for presentation of research or creative activity.
The THECB Texas Leadership Scholars (TLRS) program is a prestigious scholarship initiative supporting outstanding doctoral students at Texas public research universities.
Betty Berkeley Award
The Dr. Betty Berkeley Graduate Award in Interdisciplinary Studies is awarded to students seeking a Master of Arts or Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
R.B. Toulouse Fellowship
The R. B. Toulouse Scholarship is awarded to new and continuing graduate students.

Funded by the Division of Research and Innovation, the Dissertation Research Award supports UNT graduate students developing innovative and original dissertation proposals across all fields of study.
